Controlled assessments

This report outlines the regulatory view on the new controlled assessments that are to be included in revised GCSE qualifications from September 2009. It includes an explanation of the process of developing controlled assessments and case study examples in different GCSE subjects.
The report should be read in conjunction with the revised GCSE criteria.
This document was published by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA). The regulatory function of QCA is now the responsibility of the Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulator (Ofqual). Ofqual regulates qualifications and monitors national curriculum assessments in England.
