The Ofqual Board came into existence on 1 April 2010 when Ofqual separated from its predecessor organisation QCA (now QCDA). The Apprenticeships, Skills, Children and Learning Act 2009 sets out the composition of the Ofqual Board:
- of a Chair, appointed by her Majesty;
- between 7 and 12 members appointed by the Secretary of State; and
- the Chief Executive of Ofqual.
Prior to 1 April 2010 the Ofqual Committee, a Committee of the QCA Board, oversaw the operation of Ofqual.
At its meeting on 13 July 2010 the Ofqual Board, as part of its commitment to transparency, agreed that going forward, where appropriate, its papers would be published. Agenda, minutes and papers for meetings of the Ofqual Committee and the Ofqual Board can be found below, please note that meeting papers are only published for those meetings that took place after 13 July 2010.
The proceedings of the Ofqual Board are governed by a Governance Framework, adopted by the Ofqual at its first meeting on 1 April 2010.
