Public Perceptions of Qualifications and the Qualifications System – Wave 10
Tuesday, 23 August 2011 15:08
Contract Reference: OF141
Annual survey of public perceptions of teachers, students, parents and the general public. The objectives of the research are to look at:
- The relevance of the information received on the A level and GCSE examination system
- Perceptions of the A level, and GCSE qualifications
- Confidence in the examination system – both in its implementation and regulation
- Teachers’ awareness of, and ratings of, Ofqual.
In general the research must be comparable with previous years although there will be a limit number of new topics investigated and several topics from previous years that will not be included to keep the overall length consistent. Previous years have used a telephone survey of teachers and a face to face survey for other groups and we require comparable approaches to be taken this year to ensure continuity of the time series.
The research being carried out in 2011 will be classed as Official Statistics and will be subject to the associated restrictions on information sharing prior to publication.
Information on previous waves of the research can be found on the Ofqual website at http://www.ofqual.gov.uk/standards/183-statistics-other-publications-articles/537-perceptions-of-a-levels-and-gcses
