We are inviting tenders from recognised awarding organisations that award (or contribute to the award of) assessments results.
Research funded under this project is to validate a range of assessments regulated by Ofqual at the overall assessment level. When conducting validity studies, a clear understanding of the purposes of the assessment and the proposed interpretation of the results is essential. Each intended interpretation/use of results from an assessment will need to be validated because different interpretations or use may involve different inferences and assumptions. For validation studies supported by this specification, uses of results from regulated assessments will be limited to certification at individual student level:
- For National Curriculum assessments: Reporting
- For GCSEs: Certification (and employment)
- For GCEs: Certification, university entrance, and employment
- Vocational qualifications: Certification, progression, employment and entry to university
For National Curriculum assessments and general qualifications, final results for individuals are reported using performance categories and should therefore be interpreted in terms of the level of attainment in the curriculum as required by the performance standards which are pre-defined.
To undertake this work you will need to demonstrate sufficient research, statistical and technical expertise. This may require collaboration between agencies, or between an agency and an academic department or independent experts. Ofqual is keen to support collaborative tenders.
