The Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual) came into being on 1st April 2010. Any monitoring and regulatory activity that took place prior to that date would have taken place under the auspices of the Qualification and Curriculum Authority. This would have taken place jointly with the Department for Children Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills (DCELLS) – the regulator for Wales, and the Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) – the authority for Northern Ireland. Reports pertaining to monitoring and regulatory activity before 1st April 2010 therefore contain references to these organisations and terminology applicable at that time; however the content of such reports will continue to be used to inform the regulatory functions of Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual) after that date.
