Terms of Reference - June 2010

Purpose

The purpose of this group will be for Ofqual to consult and seek advice on embedding equalities and improving service delivery throughout all aspects of its work. The group will supplement other forms of consultation used. The group will be consulted during some decision-making processes, which will improve the regulation of qualifications and assessments. Ofqual is keen to ensure we consult and hear from all equality groups; so that the information they receive is fair and consistent.

The group will be corporate and dovetail into the work of the Ofqual Diversity and Inclusion Strategy/Policy Group.

Aims

To ensure that we can capture and take into account the views and interests of the diverse range of learners on whose behalf we regulate qualifications and assessments.

  • To consult and advise on proposed decisions of Ofqual's planned work.
  • To act as critical friends to Ofqual, as it develops its practices and procedures.
  • To act as a critical friend during Ofqual's monitoring process regarding equality issues and qualifications.
  • To act as consultee's on Ofqual's Single Equality Scheme and Action plan
  • To act as a critical friend during Ofqual's impact assessment process.
  • To assist Ofqual during its statutory consultation processes.
  • To assist Ofqual in increasing and raising confidence among the public regarding qualifications and assessments.
